I'm the new girl in town - been here almost a month - and I figured it was time to share some updates.
I love living in my foster home. While they are my first, I'm certain I couldn't have better. There are 5 other dogs and I get along with them all. One is a frisbee pro - she's a girl too - so she's trying to show me the ropes. Another loves (maybe too much) the cats that live in the back yard. They torment him so he chases them back and forth. That's kinda fun so I run with him. Another likes to play with me, sometimes he doesn't sound like he's happy we are playing, but I just pretend I don't notice and keep after him..... it seems to work because we never have any problems.
I've gotten pretty comfortable at home, but going around town and visits to friends is another story. So my foster family takes me out and about a lot so I get better and better.
Today I visited with their friends. They have 2 dogs. I walked in ok and went outside fine and felt really at home on their deck (you know I lived in a lumber yard for a year). After a while, I even got comfortable enough to explore around the yard and visit with the other dogs. Eventually I even let their friend pet me. I had fun in the end, but it just took some time.
Everyone is patient - that's what I need and luckily that's what I have... lots of patient/understanding people around... My life is only getting better now...
Since life is full of new experiences, I'll check back in when I have a few more... stay tuned!
